PROJECT DETAILS
The İyidere Junction – İkizdere Provincial Road project is located on the north–south axis between Rize and Erzurum. It starts at the junction of the coastal road in İyidere District, Rize (Km:0+000) and ends at the exit of İkizdere District (Km:37+886).
Positioned on our country’s No. 02 Rize–Mardin north–south corridor, this project aims to improve transportation standards in the region, provide fuel savings, and ensure safer traffic conditions that are disrupted and pose risks during winter due to icing. The project is also located on the route of the Ovit Tunnel, which provides year-round passage between the Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia under all climate conditions, and it is connected to the ongoing construction works of the İyidere Logistics Port.
Within the scope of the 37.9 km-long 2x2 BY standard project; it is targeted to complete superstructure renewal works on the previously completed Km:0+000–17+500 section, and to upgrade the Km:17+500–37+900 section—currently serving as a 2x1 surface-treated road on the Rize–Erzurum route—to the 2x2 BY standard, improving travel comfort and raising the overall transportation standard.
